The Iowa City New Horizons Band (ICNHB) was founded in January 1995. Our mission is to provide the opportunity for all persons age 50 and older to learn and make music. In addition to the band itself, the ICNHB will encourage entry-level group-music opportunities for members and nonmembers alike and facilitate the many current self-formed ensembles and those that will emerge. Our atmosphere is one of casual comraderie mixed with a passion for making beautiful music!

ICNHB summer session rehearsals are 9:00 am to 10:30 in the Senior Center on Tuesday and Thursday, May 28 through July 25, 2024. Fall session rehearsals begin 9:30 am (to 10:30) on September 3. Concert details are posted on the Performances-Calendar page
Monday Night Band rehearsals are 5:30 pm Monday at West Music in Coralville. The summer session runs from June 3 through July 29, except for July 1.
If you want to give either band a try, visit any rehearsal. Bring your instrument and join in.
Our partners in fulfilling our mission are the College of Education Music Education Program, the School of Music, West Music and the Iowa City Senior Center. We have approximately 40 members in our band ensemble and usually perform three times each year. We are a member of the New Horizons International Music Association, an organization comprised of nearly 200 bands, orchestras, choruses and ensembles.
